Signs you may need a new furnace

Age of the unit

The age of your furnace is one of the best indications that it needs to be replaced. The average furnace has a lifespan of between 15 and 20 years. If you have been relying on the same furnace for more than two decades, there is a good chance that you are ready to choose a brand-new unit for your home heating needs.

Rising heating bills

Heating bills can be a significant expense during the winter months. If you have noticed that your heating bills are unusually high, this could indicate that you need to replace your furnace. As a furnace wears out, it will no longer be able to operate at its peak level of efficiency. By replacing your old furnace before the start of winter, you can save on your heating bills during the coldest months of the year.

Strange noises

When your furnace reaches the end of its lifespan, it may begin to make strange noises when it is operating. For example, you may hear strange clunks, pops, rattles, or bangs when your furnace kicks into action. Your furnace repair technician will be able to diagnose the source of these unusual sounds and recommend the necessary course of action.
